Are you in love? Then you've certainly heard about the Cartier LΘVE Bracelet, which is perhaps the single most widely-known physical symbol of love next to the wedding ring.
The widely known and lusted after Cartier LΘVE bracelet was designed in 1969 by Aldo Cipullo, who was inspired by chastity belts worn by women in Medieval times.
Initially, Cartier had a strict policy that no customer could purchase this bracelet for themselves – it has to be a purchase for a significant other. The bracelet was an instant hit, and during the 70s, famous couples and celebrities were photographed wearing the sleek gold bangle.
Originally gold plated, Cartier started creating the bracelets in solid gold bracelets as demand grew, and by 1979 the diamond-studded version was introduced. Today, Cartier continues to produce their iconic love symbol, and they have expanded the design to rings, cuff links, and earrings.
So what makes the Love bracelet so iconic, anyhow? This unique (and expensive) bracelet has certain details that make it stand out amongst the crowd, including:
Starter versions of the Cartier Love bracelet come in pink or yellow gold and pricing starts around $1,630 — but these bracelets do not have the iconic fastening system. Instead, they have a simple clasp, easily allowing the wearer to take them off and on.
“The Cartier LΘVE series represents the permanence and indestructibility of affection."
